App Store previews
App Store preview videos, in Apple's exact sizes.
The short video that plays at the top of your App Store page. We build it on your own screen recordings, as Apple requires, with motion, words on screen and sound: up to 30 seconds, USD 200, delivered 3 business days after your screen recordings arrive.
What an App Store preview is
The first thing people see on your App Store page.
"App previews demonstrate the features, functionality, and user interface of your app using footage captured on device."
Apple, Show more with app previews, read 6 October 2026
A preview autoplays on your product page and in search results, with the sound off, and appears before your screenshots. You can have up to three for each device size and language your app supports, each 15 to 30 seconds long.
Because it plays muted, the words on screen do most of the work: what the app is for, then the moments that prove it. Because it plays in every storefront, and for as long as it stays up, Apple asks that it name no price and no date. And because it is your app's first impression, it is worth more care than a screen recording with a title on it.
The rules we build to
Apple's rules, built in from the storyboard.
- Only the app itself. App Review guideline 2.3.4: previews "may only use video screen captures of the app itself". For your preview we start from your recordings, not from a mockup.
- No device frames, no hands. Apple's own page says not to film people interacting with a device, and developers report App Review rejecting previews for device frames, for framing around the screen capture, and for real hands. The picture is your app's own screen, never a phone drawn around it.
- No prices and no dates. Apple asks for no "seasonal or timely references" that will age the video, and no specific prices, "as pricing and currencies vary across regions".
- Words that read with the sound off. Previews autoplay muted, so every frame carries its message in text, and the sound adds to it.
- Apple's file specification. The accepted resolution for the device (886 by 1920 for current iPhones in portrait, 1200 by 1600 for iPad), no more than 30 frames per second, 15 to 30 seconds, and a stereo sound track.
App Review makes the final call on every preview. The full requirements, each one quoted from Apple's pages and checked on 6 October 2026, are in our App Store preview video requirements guide.

How it works
Your recordings in, a file ready to upload out.
You record the app
On the device, with its built-in screen recording, or with QuickTime on a Mac with the device connected. Show the moments that matter most, at the app's normal size, without zooming.
We send the draft
A storyboard: the order of the moments and the words on screen, before the full build. You say yes, or we try another way. If no draft works for you, you get your money back in full.
We build the preview
Your recordings cut to the story, with motion, text and sound, exported at Apple's accepted size and frame rate, 3 business days after your screen recordings arrive.
You upload it
In App Store Connect, with the poster frame you choose. Two rounds of changes are included before you do.

A concept App Store preview for ToDidIt, made by us. Not affiliated with ToDidIt, and not commissioned by them. Its iPhone app is not out yet, so this one is built from our own recreation of its screens; yours is built on your own screen recordings.

Questions
What developers ask about previews.
Shipping an app?
Send your screen recordings and the devices you are submitting for. You see a draft before anything is built.
Order an App Store preview Or read the requirements firstCan the preview show our app inside an iPhone frame?
We do not make them that way. Apple's guideline 2.3.4 says previews "may only use video screen captures of the app itself", and developers have posted App Review rejections on Apple's own forums for a preview that "Includes device images and/or device frames" (2020, with the same rejection reported again in 2024) and for one that "Displays real hands" (2025). Device frames are common in screenshots; in a preview, the picture is the app's own screen.
Will Apple approve our preview?
App Review decides, and nobody outside Apple can promise it. We build to Apple's written rules and steer clear of the reasons developers report for rejections. Both lists, with what is documented and what is only reported, are in our guide to App Store preview requirements.
What do you need from us?
Screen recordings of the app, made on the device with its built-in screen recording, or with QuickTime on a Mac with the device connected, which is the method Apple describes. Tell us which devices and languages you are submitting for, and what you want people to understand first.
Can it have music and a voice?
Yes. Apple's guideline allows narration and text overlays, and suggests one piece of music throughout. Our narration is a synthetic voice, not a recorded voice actor. Previews play muted until someone turns the sound on, so the words on screen carry it first.
Do you upload it for us?
No. You upload it in App Store Connect, where you also choose the poster frame, the still people see if autoplay is off. Apple's specification says processing can take up to 24 hours after upload, so allow for it before a release.
How long does it take?
Delivery is 3 business days after your screen recordings arrive. Like everything we make, it starts with a draft you approve, and if no draft works for you, you get your money back in full.
Can you make previews for iPad, landscape or other languages?
Yes. Each is its own file, at its own accepted size, with its words on screen translated for a language. Ask us first and we will say what it adds before you order.
