Structured Scale Studio

Explainer videos for startups

SaaS explainer videos, storyboard first.

A short film that shows what your software does and why it matters. You see a script and a storyboard before anything is animated, and the price is on this page: USD 100 for a 15 to 30 second film, USD 150 in both vertical and horizontal, or USD 200 for a fuller 45 to 60 second explainer.

Founding price: USD 100 for one format and USD 150 for both, for our first three orders. Then USD 149 and USD 199.

What it is

One idea, shown rather than described.

A SaaS explainer video is a short film about one product: the problem it removes, what it does about it, and what using it looks like. Ours are motion design, not live action: your interface rebuilt as clean, moving screens, type that carries the idea, and sound and a synthetic narrator voice cut to the picture.

Our films run 15 to 30 seconds. That is enough for one clear idea, and short enough to be watched to the end where explainers are actually seen now: at the top of a landing page, in a feed, in the first lines of a sales email, at the start of a demo call. When a product needs more room, the longer film runs 45 to 60 seconds.

Every film is built from your real product. You send a link, a demo account or screenshots, and we rebuild the screens in motion, so nothing on screen promises a feature you do not have.

Who it is for

Software teams that need the product understood in seconds.

Startups before and after launch. SaaS products whose homepage explains in paragraphs what a picture could show. Teams adding a feature that has to be seen to be understood. Founders who would rather judge a storyboard than sit through a discovery call.

It is not for every film. We do not film people, offices or interviews, and we do not make two minute brand documentaries. If you need a presenter, a crew or a set, a production company is the better choice. If you need your product understood in under a minute, this is the work we do.

Not sure which? Ask us

How it works

You judge the storyboard before we animate a frame.

  1. You send the product

A link, a demo account or a few screenshots, what it does and who it is for. If there is a launch date, tell us.

  2. We write the script and draw the storyboard

You see every frame as a sketch with its words, before anything moves. You say yes, or we try another angle. If no draft works for you, you get your money back in full.

  3. We build the film

Picture, sound and a synthetic narrator voice, cut for where it will run: 9:16 for the feed, 16:9 for your site, or both. It arrives within 3 business days of your yes on the storyboard, or 5 for the longer film.

  4. You ask for changes

Two rounds of changes on the finished film are included. Then it is yours to use anywhere, with no time limit.

What makes a short explainer work

Five rules we build every film to.

  1. Open on the problem, in the first two seconds. People decide almost at once whether to keep watching, so the first frame shows the thing your product fixes, not your logo.
  2. One idea per frame. If a frame needs a paragraph to be understood, it is two frames.
  3. Write for the sound off. Feeds and pages start muted, so the words on screen carry the film and the voice adds to them.
  4. Show the real interface, simplified. Your own screens, rebuilt clean, read faster than a stock illustration and promise nothing the product cannot do.
  5. End on one action. The last frame says what to do next: try it, book a demo, download.

Concept films we made on our own about real products, to show the styles. Not affiliated with these brands: none of them commissioned a film, and none is a client.

Questions

What founders ask about explainer videos.

Have a product to explain?

Send it with a sentence on who it is for. You see a script and a storyboard before anything is animated.

Order a film Or ask us first
How long should a SaaS explainer video be?

As long as one idea takes, which is usually shorter than people expect. For a feed, a landing page or the top of a sales email, 15 to 30 seconds is enough to show one problem and how the product solves it, and short enough to be watched to the end.

If the product needs its setup shown in steps, or the audience needs the problem explained before the answer makes sense, the longer film gives it 45 to 60 seconds for USD 200. Tell us where the film will run and we will say which fits.

What do you need from us?

A link to the product, a demo account or a few screenshots, and a sentence on who it is for. Anything you already have helps: your homepage, a pitch deck, the words your customers use. You do not need a script; writing it is part of the job.

Do you show our real interface?

Yes. We rebuild your actual screens in motion, simplified so each one reads in a second. We do not show a feature your product does not have.

Who writes the script?

We do. You see it with the storyboard, frame by frame, before anything is animated, and you approve it or we try another angle.

What if we do not like the storyboard?

Tell us what is wrong and we try another angle. Nothing is animated until you say yes. If no draft works for you, you get your money back in full.

Is the voice a real person?

No. The narration is a synthetic voice, usually the narrator voice designed for the studio, not a recorded voice actor. We write it and time it to the picture like any narration, and the film still reads with the sound off.

Can we have it in another language?

Yes. The same film with the voice and the words on screen in a second language is USD 40 for each language.

Can we use the film anywhere?

Once it is paid for, it is yours to use anywhere: your site, your posts, ads, sales emails and demos, with no time limit. We may show it in our own work unless you ask us not to.
