Flighty

Flighty, first to know

Style: 3DBold typeProduct UI

A departure board says ON TIME. Flighty's own card says 35 minutes late, from the plane coming in, and on the drop the whole board flips to DELAYED: long before airlines admit it.

About the film

It opens on a split-flap departure board where every flight says ON TIME. The amber full stop drops off the word and grows into Flighty’s own “Where’s My Plane?” card: running late, a 35m delay predicted due to a late arriving aircraft. Flighty watches the plane coming in, so on their map an amber ring finds the inbound plane, then closes into the full stop of “Gate changes.” Before the pilot, the gate rolls from B12 to C4 and the stop of C4 lands back in the board. On the music’s drop the board flips, row by row, to DELAYED: “Long before airlines admit it.” Then “First to know. First to go.”, and FLIGHTY is spelled in the board’s own flaps, above their 2023 Apple Design Award. Every move between scenes lands on a beat or the end of a line.
